At St. Ann Classical Academy, we believe that education is about more than the formation of the mind. It is also about the formation of the heart.
Throughout this school year, a team of our 8th graders faithfully raised our nation's flag each morning and lowered it each afternoon. Pictured here are two members of that team on one of their final days of flag duty before graduation. Day after day, they carried out this responsibility with dignity, respect, and honor.
Flag Day offers an opportunity to reflect on the blessings of our nation, to remember those who have served and sacrificed in its defense, and to give thanks for the freedoms we enjoy. In the classical tradition, students are taught that good citizenship is rooted in virtue and that love of country begins with gratitude, service, and a commitment to the common good.
We are grateful to our graduating 8th graders for the many ways they have served our school community. May God bless them, and may God continue to bless the United States of America.
