May is the month of Mary, and at St. Ann Classical Academy, we marked this sacred season with one of our most beloved traditions: the May Crowning in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
In a beautiful outdoor celebration that reflected the reverence and joy of our school community, the entire student body gathered in prayer and song to honor Our Lady as Queen of Heaven and Mother of the Church. At the heart of the ceremony, one of our 8th grade students had the special privilege of crowning the statue of the Blessed Virgin, a cherished role that symbolizes Mary’s queenship and our devotion to her as children of God. As part of the celebration, our 7th grade students stepped forward with blue carnations, gently placing them at Mary’s feet as a sign of love, respect, and spiritual offering. The entire student body lifted their voices in hymns, filling the air with melodies of praise and devotion that touched the hearts of all present.
We extend a special thank you to Father Steven for presiding over the ceremony. His presence made the day even more meaningful, reminding us that devotion to Mary leads us ever closer to her Son.
Moments like these are a beautiful expression of the Catholic identity at the heart of our mission—forming young hearts and minds in faith, virtue, and joyful tradition.
O Mary, we crown thee with blossoms today, Queen of the Angels, Queen of the May!
